Debut date and venue confirmed for former Senior Champ Sweeney

Gary Sweeney will punch for pay for the first time on February 6.

The Galway cruiserweight will fight at the National Stadium, a venue he impressed in as an amateur and claimed National heavyweight glory, on a Boxnation broadcast MGM show.

Sweeney, whose brother Micheal lost to Ian Tims on the last MGM Dublin instalement, was meant to debut in September in South Africa before the card fell through.

The former WSB contestant, who could prove an exciting addition to a division that includes the likes of David Maguire, Ian Tims and BBBofC title hopeful Tommy McCarthy, will face a yet to be confirmed opponent on a card that includes Jamie Kavanagh and Jamie Conlan.
