2009: Bernard Dunne lost his WBA super bantamweight title in his first defence against Thai tank Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym. Six months on from his sensational win over Ricardo Cordoba, Dunne was undone by the WBA #1 ranked contender, being downed thrice in the third to see the bout at the Point Depot waved off.
Dunne began on the outside in the first, boxing well. but would taste the power of the South East Asian in the second. The writing was on the wall as the third progressed into a close quarters battle and the Irish Rover couldn’t handle the massive punch of Kratingdaenggym, and saw the bout waved off under the WBA three knockdown rule.
