Ismael Salas has replaced Shane McGuigan as David Haye’s coach.

The former two division world champion has announced the coach who has worked with fighters like Jorge Linares, Guillermo Rigondeaux and Nonito Donaire as his new trainer.

Haye hired McGuigan, who is central to Carl Frampton’s brilliant success, has revitalised the career of George Groves, and also looks after Conrad Cummings and Josh Taylor, in 2015 after returning from a long stint of inactivity dating back to 2012.

However, the pair amicably parted ways after Haye’s eleventh round stoppage loss at the hands of Tony Bellew back in March, a fight in which the Londoner tore his achilles.

There are ongoing talks to stage a rematch with Bellew by the end of the year, with Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn suggesting a December date.

“I am thrilled to welcome Salas, a trainer I have known for a number of years, into my corner,” said Haye.

“I have huge respect for what he has achieved on a world level to date and place huge value on what he can bring to my armoury. I am determined not only to get back on the main stage of the heavyweight division, but on entering the ring with a renewed skill set to recapture world titles.”
