Cork’s Noel Murphy registers debut win in America

NOEL Murphy added his name to the list of recently turned over Irish fighters when he punched for pay for the first time in America over the weekend.

The Cork native made his pro bout with a points victory over Anthony Smith on the same Resorts World Casino, Queens, New York, card that Allan Phelan fought on.

The 20 year old welterweight, who was an Intermediate national champion, won all four rounds on all three judges scorecards registering an impressive debut win.

Murphy has been training with Marcus Suarez and shares the gym with his stablemate, hot prospect junior lightweight Bryant Cruz (12-0).
