Conrad Cummings confirms ring return
Conrad Cummings [16(7)-3(0)-1] will fight for the first time since he suffered rematch defeat to Luke Keeler in Belfast next month.
‘Mr Dynamite’ fights on the first of three Belfast October cards as he populates the October 11 #MTKFightNight card.
The Tyrone puncher will fight a yet to be confirmed opponent on an ESPN+ and IFLTV broadcast card to be topped by an interesting clash between Paddy Barnes and European flyweight champion Jay Harris.
It will be the first time the middleweight has traded leather since he was out pointed by Luke Keeler in a WBO European ranking title fight in March.
That reverse was the 28-year-olds second against the Ballyfermott middleweight as his and the third of his career.
It looked to have set a fighter, who came into the pro ranks with sstrong backing and high hopes, back somewhat, but the CoalIsland man seems to have regrouped and is excited about his return.
Cummings has changed training camps since that reverse, although he was at pains to explain the reason for the change wasn’t defeat related.
The former Shane McGuigan trained 160lbs fighter left Jamie Moore and Manchester to team up with Gerard McManus and Daniel Anderson at the Gleann ABC.
“There is absolutely no fall out between myself and Jamie Moore or Nigel Travis. I have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for both men. I have moved trainers for no other reason than my personal circumstances have changed at home,” he said of the change.
Cummings joins a stacked undercard that includes Sean McComb taking on Emiliano Dominguez and IBF European champion Marco McCullough defending against Viorel Simion.
Also appearing are Lewis Crocker, Gary Cully, Sean Duffy, Pierce O’Leary and Ruari Dalton.
