A group of local volunteers from all areas of Galway city and county have come together and decided to form the regions newest boxing club St Pats Tribes Boxing Academy.

Based in the Liosbaun Industrial Estate in Galway City the club has been running five nights a week since July 7, 2009 and is already attracting over 50 young boxers to each session.

The focus of the club is to keep the youth of Galway off the streets by getting them in to sport at a young age.

The club will hold an Official Opening Night on Tuesday, October 6 at 7.30pm in the club that can be found on the Tuam Road.

The club is still enrolling members. Opening times are Monday – Wednesday Friday from 7pm to 9pm for groups aged from eight years to seniors, whilst Tuesday and Thursday sessions are reserved for five to seven year olds.

All coaching staff are fully qualified and children are fully supervised.
