Clancy fights for Saunders continental title this weekend

Just five days before St Patrick’s day on the 12th of March former Oughterard boxer and New South Wales Champion Gearoid Clancy will fight Brendan Saunders for the IBO Oceania Light Weight Title in what is anticipated as one of the biggest boxing events and one of the best boxing cards to be seen in Sydney for some time. The Neutral Corner event takes place in the Netball Central, Sydney Olympic Stadium.

Both Saunders and Clancy are familiar with each other as the boxer now based in Bondi Beach boxing successfully defended his NSW title against Saunders. At the time Clancy wanted both his domestic and Saunders Continental titles to be on the line but his opponent knocked back the request.

The atmosphere at the event promises to be electric with two other Irish boxers on the card. The main event is Daragh Foley v Brandon Ogilvie in a WBA lightweight title belt and Paddy Murphy v Jack Brubacker in an OPBF title bout.

The event is being streamed live on the 12th of March around 11am Irish time and will be shown on Australian TV on St Patrick’s day. If the former Oughterard Boxer comes out on top St. Patrick day festivities could commence early in his home time.
