Christmas return date set for Niall Kennedy

New England and Massachusetts heavyweight champion Niall Kennedy [9(5)-0] will return to the ring next month in his first fight back since a massive win in September.

The Wexford big man scored a huge win against Alexis Santos at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut, and will keep busy and keep building with an eight rounder at the Plainridge Park Casino outside of Boston on Saturday December 16th.

The fight comes on a special Murphys Boxing ‘Christmas Party’ charity card in aid of the Claddagh Fund and Music Drives Us which will also feature a set from the Dropkick Murphys.

Headlining the bill will be light middleweight Mark DeLuca, while Kennedy is currently scheduled to face Illinois big man Danny Calhoun [6(3)-3(2)] in the chief support.

The fight will be ‘Boom Boom Baz’s’ first official bout as a Murphys Boxing fighter, with Kennedy joining his Celtic Warriors Gym team mate Spike O’Sullivan in the stable following his win over Santos.

Also on the card will be Athlone light middleweight Paddy Irwin [4(3)-0] and Irish-American lightweight Matt Doherty [7(4)-3(0)-1] – who recently had some back-and-forths with Ray Moylette – as well as Carlos Gongora, Travis Gambardella, and Jillian DiAuto.
