Carl McDonald secures second fight date

Jobstown super bantamweight Carl McDonald [1(0)-0] will make his Dublin debut next month.

The 27 year old fighter debuted back in October, featuring as a swing bout on a Mark Dunlop dinner show at the Europa Hotel. Here the former Intermediate champion scored a points win over awkward Pole Kamil Jaworek.

Now the Tallaght puncher will fight in front of his home fans for the first time on Saturday May 27th.

McDonald was due to fight on the cancelled Táimid Laochra’ bill last week, and has now been added to the bumper ‘Celtic Clash 2: The Rising’ bill at the National Stadium.

The thirteenth fighter announced for the bill so far, McDonald joins stablemates Jay Byrne and Lynn Harvey, as well as Eric Donovan, Crank Whitehouse, Sean Creagh, Stephen Carroll, Vladimir Belujsky, and debutants Keane McMahon, Liam Gaynor, John Joyce, and Regan Buckley on the packed card in the capital.

A few more boxers are still expected to be announced soon for the show, which looks to be one of the biggest, in terms of number of fighters, in Irish boxing history.

Tickets for ‘Celtic Clash 2: The Rising’ will be priced at €15 (Under 15s), €30, €40, €45, and €55 (Premium), and will be available from the boxers involved in the near future.
