Burnett secures massive Frampton v Quigg fight date

It’s official – Ryan Burnett will appear on the massive Frampton versus Quigg bill.

Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn told Irish-boxing.com when he came to Belfast last November that putting the Adam Booth-trained fighter on the undercard of the ‘mega fight’ was a ‘no brainer’ minutes after he turned local boos into applause by stating he would promote the British bantamweight champ in his home town in April.

Burnett joins Luke Wilton, who fights Charlie Edwards in a British title eliminator, and of course ‘The Jackal’ as confirmed Belfast fighters on the card, and with Cyclone yet to confirm their four undercard picks there is room for even more Irish interest on the show.

In terms of Burnett the Manchester Arena will play host to his first fight since he out pointed Jason Booth to claim the British strap.

The 23 year old starlet has fought 12 times as a pro, winning all 12 clashes and boasts nine inside the distance wins.

Touted as a potential World champ from a very young age, Burnett isn’t unknown to Belfast boxing fans, but a big fight on such a card will expose him further to the sizeable Jackal Army and the casual fans Frampton brings to the table.
