Boxing Ireland Promotions announce new signing

Boxing Ireland Promotions confirmed yet another signing today as they build toward a big 2019.

This afternoon the outfit behind the popular ‘Celtic Clash’ series confirmed the acquisition of Waterford lightweight Michael Duggan.

The 21-year-old boxed out of Dungarvan in the amateurs and is the reigning Irish 64kg Novice champion.

Spotted by Boxing Ireland’s Leonard Gunning at the Haringey Box Cup during the summer, the Déise youngster put pen to paper on a contract with Stephen Sharpe last night.

Duggan said that “I’ve just achieved a childhood dream of becoming a professional boxer!”

“I’m absolutely over the moon to be a part of the Boxing Ireland Promotions team, it’s going to be a fun journey and one I fully believe down the line I will succeed at!”

“For my town and my family, let’s get this one started! 2019 is gonna be the start of something special for me.”

“Thanks to everyone who believed in me supported me through the last few years as an amateur – it was short and sweet but very successful also a massive thanks to Stephen Sharpe and Leonard Gunning for being so easy to deal with the last few days.”

Duggan is the latest signing for Boxing Ireland and is expected to debut on the soon-to-be-confirmed ‘Celtic Clash 8’ card.

Here he is likely to feature alongside fellow debutants Jamie Douglas, Kevin Cronin, Owen McDonagh, Dominic Donegan, and Paddy Clavin.
