‘Bitching’ Quigg had his chance says McGuigan

Scott Quigg isn’t in Carl Frampton’s league and won’t get a rematch claims Barry McGuigan.

The former WBA World title holder has been very vocal about his desire for a return with the man who out pointed him in February of this year.

The Matchroom fighter has gone as far as to imply he won’t rest until he avenges his sole career defeat and even said that if Leo Santa Cruz defeats Frampton in New York tonight he would pick a shot at ‘The Jackal’ over a shot at a World title.

However, McGuigan has criticised Quigg for calling for a repeat stating he had his chance and was schooled by ‘The Jackal,’ telling BoxingScene that “Scott Quigg is now bitching and moaning about wanting a rematch.”

“He had his opportunity. He wouldn’t take it to Carl. Carl boxed the ears of him, and we knew it was going to be a tactical fight.”

“We couldn’t say as far as the pay per view potential, customers were going to be concerned. We said it was going to be a great fight, but we knew in our hearts it was going to be a tactical fight.”

“He is not in the same league as Carl as far as skill set is concerned.”
