Big time boxing returns to Dublin on July 4
THE Boxnation cameras will focus on a Dublin fight card on July 4, as the boxing revival in the capital picks up pace.
Although there has been no official confirmation of the fight card, both Ciaran McVarnock and Joe Selkirk have confirmed their next fight dates are in Dublin on July 4.
The boxing rumour mill suggests the show will be topped by Belfast super flyweight World title hopeful Jamie Conlan and will include Stephen Ormond.
There are also suggestions the show will be run by MGM and plans for regular Dublin shows are in place.
MGM’s involvement suggests if fit Declan Geraghty will also appear as will Dublin ticket seller Anthony Fitzgerald and David McGuire.
It is great news for Dublin fight fans, who rejoiced in having a big Matchroom production at the 3Arena last November and with Eddie Hearn looking for a ‘star’ to entice him back to Ireland, news of the aforementioned show and Andy Lee’s desire to defend his WBO middleweight title in Limerick, boxing might boom outside of just Belfast for the first time since the Bernard Dunne era.
