Big Irish fight date for Phil Sutcliffe Jr

Phil Sutcliffe Jr [12(7)-1(0)] will aim to build on his career-best win over Chris Jenkins with another high-profile Irish fight date next month.

The Crumlin light welter has been added to the Jamie Conlan-headlined Boxnation show at the Waterfront Hall on Saturday February 18th.

Sutcliffe defeated two-time British title challenger Jenkins on the last Belfast bill at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in what was the fight of the night.

The indication is that the fight next month will be a non-title affair, and that a clash with Tyrone McKenna for the Irish belt, or indeed any other opponent for any other belt, will not take place until later in 2017.

Sutcliffe said that “the fight with Jenkins was excellent and the atmosphere was on another level. Those are the type of fights I want and what the fans deserve. 2017 is going to be my year and I’m looking forward to getting back in the ring in February.”

The Dubliner joins Paddy Barnes, Steven Ward, and Marco McCullough on the bill, which also features the mouth-watering Irish super featherweight title fight between Declan Geraghty and James Tennyson.
