Arthur eyes Lindsay’s belt

09 December 2009 – By Mark Doyle

Jamie Arthur is expecting “one hell of a battle” when he collides with British featherweight champion Martin Lindsay on February 5.

Arthur, who returned to the ring just over 12 months ago after three years of inactivity, is in action against Mickey Coveney at the Newport Leisure Centre on Friday night but freely admits that he has one eye on his imminent bout with Belfast star Lindsay.>

“The British title is the reason I came back. I thought it would never happen, but now I am within touching distance, the 29-year-old Scot mused.

“Lindsay is unbeaten. He’s a good fighter, I’m a good fighter and it will be one hell of a battle.

“I proved myself by beating Akaash Bhatia and I think I’m stronger and more mature now. This is my time and I’m going to be 110 percent ready.

“Right now I can’t think of that too much because I have to get this week’s fight out of the way.”
