Anthony Cacace has Been Given an Undisputed Promise

Anthony Cacace has warned there will be “problems” if he is denied the chance to fight for undisputed glory should he defeat Nick Ball in Belfast.

The Belfast world champion returns to his home city on December 19 to defend his WBA super-featherweight title against the former world champion – and while he is aware the Liverpudlian won’t be easily bypassed, he does have plans beyond December.

Cacace already has his sights firmly set on the winner of Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster and, as such, all the super-featherweight marbles.

Indeed, the Apache says that opportunity has already been promised to him.

“If I come through this here, I mean, we’re talking the winner of Navarrete and Foster for the undisputed, and that’s been promised to me,” Cacace said when speaking to Irish-boxing.com.

“So, if it’s not, there’s going to be problems if I beat him. We’ll see how it goes.”

Navarrete holds the IBF and WBO straps, while Foster holds the WBC. They collide in a three-belt unification showdown on Saturday, October 24, at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.

The winner will certainly have undisputed aspirations, and thus the winner of Cacace-Ball will look very appetising.

That, in turn, means the Holy Trinity-associated former Irish champion could be handed a chance to become the first-ever Irish male to become undisputed champion of the four-belt era.

The 37-year-old has made no secret of his desire to secure the biggest fights of his career before time catches up with him.

While becoming undisputed remains an ambition, the Belfast natural talent admits that money and the scale of the fight are increasingly important at this stage of his career. Not that that is his sole motivation.

At this stage, the two-time world champion is happy with his legacy and has bank-balance-boosting goals.

“It would be nice to fight for the undisputed or something like that, but the bigger fights for me and for myself and my family, they’re what I kind of want.

“It’s more the biggest fights, I would say.

“I want the biggest names in the division and with the biggest paydays. This is what it’s about, especially at my age.”

The immediate focus, however, remains Ball, with Cacace insisting he will not underestimate the former world champion when they meet in Belfast.
