Andy Lee: I have the tools to beat Cotto

ANDY Lee believes he has the tools to pry the WBC middleweight title from around the waist of Miguel Cotto.

Lee has been the more prominent name linked to the fight legend for his December 13 Madison Square Garden bout, but despite revealing nothing has been confirmed did state he is confident he could beat the Freddie Roach trained puncher.

“There is nothing in place,” he told boxingscene. “I have told Lou DiBella and Adam Booth I want the fight. It would be an honor to fight a great champion like Cotto. I have trained with him and respect him, but I feel I have the style to beat him.”

Cotto, who beat Sergio Martinez to claim the WBC title has been ordered to defend against  the winner of the upcoming showdown between Gennady Golovkin and Marcos Antonio Rubio late next year and is rumored to be lining up a massive May 2015 bout with Saul Alvarez.

So if Lee is chosen as the foe for what is now being billed as ‘keep busy’ bout he has the chance not only to win a world title but secure massive fights.
