Lou DiBella’s proposed St Patrick’s Day Irish fight festival gets more exciting by they day.
The New York promoter is set to officially announce Matthew Macklin and Sergio Martinez before the turn of the year and yesterday revealed he is lining up a mouth watering Ireland versus England fight as chief support.
DiBella is in talks with Ricky Hatton in a bid to secure Andy Lee a fight with unbeaten Martin Murray. The Limerick fighter could secure a world title shot if he defeats the Liverpool based boxer, who drew with WBA world champ Felix Sturm last weekend.
“What is better than and Irish man and an English man going to war on St Patricks Day. It would be a great fight,” DiBella explained.
