McCloskey still off the Money Mark

MATCHROOM haven’t the kind of money at their disposal to tempt world champion Marcos Maidana to Belfast according to the Argentine’s manager.
McCloskey had hoped to fight for the WBA world title for a second time in under a year by taking on the big name in The Odyssey Arena in February.
However, despite expressing an interest in coming to Ireland El Chino hasn’t heard the kind of figures mentioned that would prompt him to agree to the mega fight.
Team McCloskey claimed earlier in the week that today was contract talk D-Day.
Maidana’s manager Sebastián Contursi admitted another offer was due Friday but isn’t to confident Matchroom will meet his charges financial requirements.
“To be honest with you McCloskey’s Team is very nice indeed but I don’t think Matchroom has the money to do it. Let’s see about that after today as Eddie Hearn should send a written new proposal to Golden Boy Promotions, ”Sebastián Contursi claimed.
