It was a bit more PC than Eamonn O’Kane’s ‘he hits as hard as f**k’, but Frank Buglioni was the latest to confirm Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan is heavy handed.
Buglioni was a regular sparring partner for the London lad when he spent time in the Celtic Warrior Gym in Dublin. Indeed both Luke Keeler and the Cork fighter were on a £500 bonus if they could drop the fighter who has moved up to cruiserweight, ahead of his super middleweight world title fight with Fedor Chudinov.
The Wise Guy has shared the sparring ring with some top talent and renowned hitters and fought some bangers, but he adamant o’Sullivan hits harder than them all.
Indeed he claims the fighter, who is set for a return to light middleweight, hits like a heavyweight.
Speaking to SWBoxing Buglioni said:
“I’ve sparred some big punchers. George Groves has a great right hand, as does Ovill McKenzie. Carl Froch has power in both hands, solid thuds. But pound-for-pound, when Spike O’Sullivan let his hands go he could really whack, especially as he was a middleweight. He hits like a heavyweight!”
