Byrne forced to withdraw from February clash and eyes move to light welter

A shoulder injury has forced recent Irish title challenger Dean Byrne to pull out of his fight with Welsh prospect Tony Dixon.

‘Irish Lightening’ was due to face the undefeated fighter on February 6 in Newport, but is out injured.

Byrne, who was last seen losing to Peter McDonagh ┬áconfirmed the news to IFL TV’s Sonny Donnelly this week.

The former Wild Card puncher also reflected on his fight with McDonagh and suggested he will drop from welterweight to light welterweight when he returns.
