TJ Doheny destroys former two-weight World champion

Laois super bantamweight TJ Doheny had a career best win today on the other side of the world. Now based in Australia, the PABA champion successfully defended his continental crown at the Alexandria Basketball Arena in New South Wales against former two-weight world champ Denkaosan Kaovichit.

The 28 year old southpaw had his Thai opponent down in the first round and was dominant throughout, finishing the job in the fifth.

Doheny’s bout was the headline fight on a card that featured the Australian homecoming of former two-weight champ Vic Darchiniyan.

With the win, Doheny improves his record to 13(9)-0, while Kaovichit’s ledger now reads 63(26)-6(5)-1.

The world rated Irishman will now continue his climb up the World rankings as he targets a clash with WBA interim champion Moises Flores [24(17)-0] of Mexico.
