Foley victorious after knockdown-filled war in Australia

Dublin prospect Darragh Foley was involved in a fight of the year contender today in Australia. The southpaw outgunned highly-rated Aussie lightweight Val Borg at the Alexandria Basketball Stadium in New South Wales.

Foley started quick and had his Sydney opponent down twice in the opening stanza. ‘Super’ Foley sent Borg to the canvas again in the fourth, but the Aussie regrouped and gave the Dubliner a count of his own in the fifth.

The tough Irishman however would not be denied and finished the bout of in the sixth of a scheduled eight rounds.

Foley, along with the legendary Vic Darchiniyan, was one of the chief support acts to TJ Doheny’s succesfull PABA super bantamweight title defence against Denkaosan Kaovichit.

Foley, who recently won the New South Wales State light welterweight title, now improves his record to 7(5)-1(0), while Borg’s falls to [10(7)-2(2)].
