So enamoured are the locals, they have officially designated July 12th 2016 as Carl Frampton Recognition Day.

This afternoon at Champs Boxing Club in New Rochelle Frampton was presented with an official proclamation from the Office of the County Executive by the County Executive Robert Astorino.

In return, the Belfast man gave a pair of signed gloves and put the politician through his paces on the heavy bag.

The proclamation reads:

I, Robert P. Astornio, County Executive of Westchester County, do hereby proclaim July 12th 2016, to be Carl Frampton Recognition Day in Westchester County and join my friends and neighbours to mark this impressive accomplishment and to wish him well in his upcoming championship match.
