Patrick Hyland will finally get the chance to challenge for featherweight World title when he takes on Gary Russell Jr on April 16.
The 31 year old Tallaght puncher has endured a frustrating stop start career since he challenged Javier Fortuna for the WBA Interim World title in 2012.
The Punisher had four fights over the last four years and might have questioned his luck when a proposed March World title fight with Russell Jr was postponed just weeks from the fight date.
However, the clash will go ahead and ‘Pajo’ will get his tilt next month.
The WBC have confirmed Russell Jr will make the first defence of his title against Hyland on April 16 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut.
