WATCH: Brendan Irvine’s fight v Russia
Belfast’s Brendan Irvine was given a tough fight by Chingiz Natyrov at the weekend.
The St Paul’s ABC man took on the Russian in a test international at the National Stadium.
The flyweight Olympic hopeful seemed to get the better of his opponent, but was pushed all the way in what will be perfect preparation for Rio.
Irvine and the rest of Ireland’s Olympic team will fly out to Brazil in two weeks time for the Rio Games, and the 20 year old is determined to make an impact.
