Matthew Macklin is as honest as they come when he talks boxing and especially his own career.
Speaking to James Helder of IFL TV this week ‘Mack The Knife’ revealed retirement beckons if he doesn’t beat Brian Rose on the massive Martin v Joshua card in London on Saturday. Indeed the former Irish, British and European champion says he may hang up the gloves if he falls short of a good performance.
The three time World title challenger admits he has been below par in recent performances and knows its all or nothing on Saturday. He claims his last display against ‘Jason Welbourn’ was a kick up the back side.
In saying all that Macklin believes he will be too big and strong for the former light middleweight champ.
