UPDATED – Ireland’s European Championship Roll of Honour

Gabriel Dossen and Dylan Eagleson became the latest Irish Elite European Championship medal winners over the last week.

The Galway and Bangor fighters won the country’s 63th and 64th medals at continental Elite level.

Dossen became the 15th puncher to win gold when he secured Ireland’s 22nd Euro first place finish by beating England’s Lewis Richardson in the middleweight final. Eagleson’s silver is the country’s eighth.

Ireland first medaled at the tournament in 1939 when Jimmy Ingle, Paddy Dowdall and Charles Evenden all stood on the podium at the National Stadium.

Team Ireland’s most successful tournament played out in Russia in 2010 when Paddy Barnes, Tyrone McCullagh, Kenneth Egan, Darren O’Neill and Eric Donovan all medalled.

Katie Taylor is by far Ireland’s most successful continental battler having stood on the top of the podium six times.
