TWO new fight dates scheduled for Luke Keeler

It’s seems that the boxing Gods never close a door without opening a window.

At least that is the case for Dublin middleweight Luke Keeler [9(5)-1(0)]. The Ballyfermot puncher suffered a setback earlier this week when he learnt that his slot on the George Groves undercard at London’s Copper Box Arena on January 30th had fallen through.

However, yesterday evening it was confirmed that the Celtic Warriors fighter will appear on not one but TWO cards over the coming months.

First on February 5th there is a Dublin return for Keeler who will trade leather in Ireland for the first time since November 2014. The 28 year old has been squeezed onto the Sean Turner-headlined MGM Promotions show at the Roadstone Club.

Then, on March 5th, Keeler will be back under the Matchroom Promotions banner for an eight round fight -hopefully live on Sky Sports – at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.

This instance marks the first occasion that an active Matchroom fighter has appeared on an MGM Promotions show and Keeler has expressed his gratitude to MGM for adding him to an already full card so that all his training over Christmas does not go to waste. As Matthew Macklin said last year – “the Civil War is over.”

These two quick outings give Keeler the chance to shake off the rust, gain title eligibility, and set himself up for big fights this year after a frustrating 2015.
