Title fight for Michael Devine
Luton-Wexford boxer Michael Devine [15(5)-5(2)-1] is in line for a domestic title.
‘Chunky.’ who won the BBBoC Southern Area lightweight title at the tail-end of last year. has been authorised by the British Board to fight for the vacant English super featherweight title against Sam Bowen [9(6)-0].
24 year old hot prospect Bowen was initially due to fight Chris Conwell in a fight that was set to take place on March 11th in Nottingham.
However, following an injury to Conwell that forced his withdrawal, the BBBoC have authorised Devine to step into the breach.
27 year old Devine has fought at super feather before, winning the BBBoC Southern Area 130lbs belt back in 2013, and will be confident that he will, under new trainer Kevin Maree, be able to grab the win.
However, the title fight may not come for some time, with purse bids not due until March 8th and the contest having to take place before the end of June 2017.
