The Rock cooking up a return to America- Ormond ready to take the Spike route

Stephen Ormond is on the verge of teaming up with Ken Casey and Murphy’s Boxing it seems.

The lightweight World title hopeful’s contract with Frank Warren has run its course freeing the Clondalkin talent to follow in the footsteps of Celtic Warrior Gym mate Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan.

A lot of fans felt ‘The Rock’s’ progress was slowed by Warren, feeling the British promoter used him as a named opponent for other lightweights in his stable and as a result will be happy to see the deal come to an end.

Cork middleweight O’Sullivan excelled when he left Warren and got a promoter ‘who put him first’ and since teaming up with Murphy’s Boxing has increased his profile, world ranking and World title fight hopes.

Ormond, who was open to re-signing with Warren if certain commitments were made and had been linked to a World title fight with Terry Flanagan yesterday, will be hoping the move will have a similar effect on his career.

Murphy’s Boxing can open the door to big fights Stateside, but Ken Casey and co are open to their fighters fighting back in Ireland, meaning Ormond could still appear on MGM’s Dublin shows.

Speaking on social media today Ormond said “As my contract is up with Frank Warren promotions I have a new deal to fight in the USA more news coming soon.”
