TALES FROM A NEUTRAL CORNER-Setanta broadcast doc

Some of the great names from  Irish amateur boxing history are featured in a two-part documentary to be shown  on Setanta Sports this week.

‘Tales from a Neutral Corner’, by  Midas Productions, celebrates the centenary this year of the founding of the  Irish Amateur Boxing Association.

It includes unique film footage  dating back to the 1920s and shows popular favourites like Michael Carruth, Mick  Dowling, Fred Tiedt, Jim McCourt, Phil Sutcliffe, Ollie Byrne, Kenny Egan and  Katie Taylor in ring action, as well as interviews with other greats of the past  and present.

Writer-director Andrew Gallimore  is delighted to have got Liam Neeson, who boxed as an amateur for the All Saints  club in Ballymena before turning to acting, as narrator for the documentary.

“Tales from a Neutral Corner” will be shown on Setanta Sports on Wednesday and Thursday next (December 14-15)  at 9.45 pm.
