Sweeney still eyeing Tims revenge
WHEN Micheal Sweeney punctured his lung a week before his scheduled November 13 grudge match with Ian Tims- and ‘Timsey’ pulled out against his rescheduled opponent via another injury it seemed both would cruise into retirement.
However, upon hearing the Dubliner will fight on Sweeney, who day went under the knife to fix his injuries, claimed he still wants Tims revenge.
Speaking to Irish-boxing.com the Ballinrobe fighter revealed he plans to fight again in the Summer and he wants a repeat of the 2011 City West hosted Irish title that went the way of former Senior champ Tims.
“I still want that Tims rematch,” Sweeney said of a bout that was eagerly anticipated last year, but might not excite as much now.
“It is a fan friendly fight and it is one I want. It was unfortunate it didn’t happen on the Return of the Mack card, but that’s boxing. The doctor told me after the operation I will be good to fight in the Summer and I would love that fight then.”
