Second Coming Countdown: Jamie Conlan

MGM return to Ireland this weekend and, ahead of the massive ‘Second Coming’ show at the National Stadium, irish-boxing.com is profiling all the Irish fighters who will be in action.

It’s finally fight night and here we profile headliner Jamie Conlan [14(8)-0].

After an amazing fight last time out against Junior Granados where he rose from the canvas twice to grind out a win, Conlan returns to the National Stadium. This time round the Belfast Mexican is predicting another exciting fight – although he promises that this will be due to his dominance.

An all-round nice guy, the WBO Inter-Continental champ has a wide skill set as well as noteworthy power, and revealed this week that this power has been increasing since he moved to MGM and teamed up with Danny Vaughan.

The super flyweight star is on a collision course with England’s Paul Butler and hopes to continue down this path with a big win tonight in his eight round bout against Adrian Dimas Garzon [10(1)-18(7)]. His Nicaraguan opponent is a late replacement and Conlan has promised to use this as an opportunity to exhibit his skills to the knowledgeable Dublin crowd.

Here is what to expect from Jamie Conlan tonight:
