Poland Hussars manager: Paddy Barnes is a legend

Following last week’s ‘come-and-get-me’ plea, Paddy Barnes was yesterday drafted by the Rafako Hussars WSB franchise.
The double Olympic bronze medalist joins Rio 2016 team-mate Steven Donnelly on the Polish team.

The experience in the five-round format will help keep both sharp before the Olympics in Brazil as well as giving invaluable experience ahead of the pro game.

Following the draft, Poland’s manager Jacek Szelagowski was highly complementary of his new signing. The Hussars head honcho feels that Barnes “is a legend, he is a superstar boxer.”

“He will gain some points for us, definitely.”

“I think it was a great idea to pick him, and I’m really satisfied with that.”

Additionally Szelagowski noted that “he [Barnes] will be good for our younger boxers.”

“Maybe I will organise some sparring sessions.”
