IRISH Lightening Dean Byrne was struck down by a body blow in Blockpool on Saturday night.
Once again 30 year old Byrne, showed guts galore but eventually came undone as he tried to move up a level, losing to Russia’s number one and World ranked welterweight David Avanesyan.
The former Wild Card puncher, was stopped after the impressive and sensationally strong Russian put him to the floor with a body shot in round six of a scheduled eight rounder.
It was Byrne’s second fight back a year sabbatical and having drawn on his return he now hasn’t tasted victory since late 2013.
However, the skillful former Freddie Roach trained operator will be hoping to change that statistic when he fights Peter McDonagh for the Irish title in October.
