No frills Katie Taylor all about walking the walk not the ring walk

We all seen what happens outside the ring post fight does have an effect on Katie Taylor in that by now famous ‘I am not crying, you’re crying’ moment.

Indeed, the two weight world champion has been accused of getting caught up in the crowd and wanting to entertain during fights.

However, the noise outside of the fight and the arena pre bout mean so little to the undisputed lightweight champion of the world that she has no dealings with her ring walk music.

In what has to be one of the ultimate no frills approach, Taylor doesn’t pick her ring walk tune, nor does she know what it’s going to be.

The decorated trailblazer wants to focus on the fight not any potential glitz and glam around it.

“I’m just focusing on what I have to do in the fight,” Taylor told The Boxing Show on Sky Sports.

“Sometimes during the ring walk I’m actually thinking about what music is playing – because I never really make that decision.

“There has been times where I’m in the tunnel to walk out and I’m actually thinking: ‘Gosh, I wonder what song is going to played here tonight.

“(I’ve been surprised) plenty of times actually, but they’ve always been great songs thankfully”
