Niall Kennedy signs promotional deal following big Santos win

Following his hugely impressive win over Alexis Santos last month, Niall Kennedy [9(5)-0] has secured himself a promotional deal.

Trained and managed by Paschal Collins, the Wexford heavyweight had an informal agreement with Boston-based Murphys Boxing over the last two years.

In this time Kennedy has fought six times on the U.S. East Coast, defeating Jesse Barboza for the Massachusetts State title in March before sensationally taking the New England title from Santos.

The Gorey Garda attracted attention from prospective promoters following the win over Santos at the Foxwoods Casino, but has now put pen to paper on a formal deal with Murphys Boxing, his preferred option.

He joins Celtic Warriors gym mate Spike O’Sullivan [26(18)-2(1)] in being promoted by the outfit backed by Dropkick Murphys lead singer Ken Casey, while world title chasing Portlaoise super bantamweight TJ Doheny [17(13)-0] also fights under the banner.

A new fight date for 33 year old Kennedy is expected to be announced soon.
