Niall Kennedy [6(3)-0] fights in Ireland for the first time in a year this weekend and is ready to show his loyal Wexford following the improvements he has made over the past twelve months.

The Wexford heavyweight has been building momentum Stateside with three wins on Murphy’s Boxing cards and the 32 year old feels he is starting to move to another level as a pro.

While he has enjoyed his time on big American cards, Kennedy is looking forward to some home comforts. The Gorey Garda explained to Irish-Boxing.com that “I love boxing in America and my following is growing in Boston and Murphy’s Boxing treat me like family, but I’m looking forward to showing my improvements in Ireland.”

“This is my seventh fight in a year and a half, and I feel I’m really starting to show my potential.”

The six-round fight against a to-be-confirmed opponent is ‘Boom Boom Baz’s’ second in three weeks and predicts the best ever Niall Kennedy on Saturday night. He described how “I didn’t get a massive chance to get much sparring in [for his last fight] but I’m fitter for this fight than Boston. I’m probably in the best shape of my life. I’m genuinely excited.”

While he’s not one for predictions, Kennedy stated that “I can promise entertainment and a display of my boxing ability. and if that forces an early night I’d be delighted.”

“I will have loads of support from Gorey and it would be great to give boxing a boost in Wexford like Adam [Nolan] and Dean [Walsh] have both done in recent years.”

Before finishing, Kennedy took the time to thank his sponsors “Fun Palace Casino Arklow & Wexford, and Murray Waste Recycling Wexford, as their support has been massive.”
