Mixed Fortunes for Irish title hopefuls in Swindon
There was mixed fortunes for Irish title hopefuls Luke Watkins and Garven Kelly in Swindon on Saturday night.
The pair, who are trained by Irish trainer Paddy Fitzpatrick and fought in Derry along side stable mate Eamonn O’Kane earlier this year, suffered contrasting results at the Grange Drive Leisure Centre.
Watkins, who has expressed a desire to fight for the Irish cruiserweight strap, pushed his unbeaten record to six with a fourth stoppage win.
The 26 year old disposed of Sandor Balogh within 4 minutes securing a second round TKO win..
However, there was a second career defeat for stable mate Garvey Kelly.
The welterweight, who suffered his first loss in February against Faheem Khan, was out-pointed by Lee Connolly 40-37.
