Burnett passes first significant test with flying colours
RYAN Burnett got a busy weekend for Belfast boxing off to the perfect start with another impressive victory in Sheffield on Friday night.
The 22 year old bantamweight prospect took a step up in class facing Isaac Owusu, who boasts 23 wins from his 30 fights and certainly wasn’t over awed.
A day before Micheal Conlan and Paddy Barnes where in WSB action and a host of Belfast talent went to work on the World is Not Enough card the Adam Booth trained fighter stopped the experienced Ghanaian in two rounds.
The Youth Olympic gold medal winner stopped his opponent just 26 seconds into the second stanza making it six stoppage wins in seven fights and three straight KO defeats since he teamed up with Andy Lee’s trainer Booth.
