Don’t book your plane tickets yet but Irish boxing could have a night to remember in New York on Saturday December 14th.
WBO welterweight king Terence Crawford is set to headline a massive Top Rank show at the Madison Square Garden Arena and it looks like Ireland’s two highest-profile fighters could feature on the card.
It is being reported tonight that Belfast featherweights Carl Frampton [26(15)-2(0)] and Mick Conlan [12(7)-0] are both in line to feature on the undercard in Manhattan in what would be the most incredible of Christmas trips.
Top New York boxing writer Michael Woods has revealed this evening that he has been informed by Top Rank chief Bob Arum that his two Irish 126lbers will box on the December 14th show.

Arum was speaking to Woods on today’s edition of the popular TalkBox podcast which you can listen to in full below.
Arum said “Mick Conlan is scheduled to fight on that card and, if the hand comes around and it’s in good shape, Frampton will also be on that card.”
The pair, should it need to be clarified once again, would not be facing each other in The Garden’s ‘Big Room’ – with Conlan having ruled out the possibility of such a fight for the latest time earlier this month in the aftermath of his Féile an Phobail headline appearance.
Conlan stopped Diego Alberto Ruiz in the ninth round of his outdoor step-up in the Falls Park, turning in his strongest performance to date.
For Frampton, it will be his first fight since his defeat to IBF champion Josh Warrington last December.
‘The Jackal’ was due to box in Philadelphia on August 10th but saw his rust-shaking fight versus Emmanuel Dominguez cancelled during the Monday beforehand after he broke his metacarpal when a heavy ornament fell on his hand in a freak accident.
Both boxers are highly ranked in the WBO ratings, with Conlan now at #3 and Frampton in at #5.
The most recent brown belt holder, Mexican Oscar Valdez, recently moved up in weight, with Shakur Stevenson and Joet Gonzalez looking set to do battle for the vacant title – with Conlan and Frampton waiting in the wings.
