Michaela Walsh makes history with Commonwealth win
MICHAELA Walsh made history on Monday night becoming the first female boxer to fight and win in the Commowealth Games.
Wash defeated her opponent Mauritius’ Thessa Dumas by a unanimous decision.
The 21-year-old flyweight is now through to the quarter finals on Wednesday where she’ll face Jamaica’s Joy Sarah Rae.
Alanna Murphy becomes the second Team Northern Ireland fighter to compete in the Games on Tuesday.
