McGuigan: Titanic Showdown will be an event the like of which the boxing World has never seen before

Cyclone Promotions are proud to announce the Titanic Centre, in Belfast’s historic Titanic Quarter, as the venue for the TITANIC SHOWDOWN on Saturday the 6th of September featuring Carl Frampton’s IBF World Super Bantamweight title challenge of Spanish Champion Kiko Martínez.

Belfast’s iconic Titanic Quarter will be the unique setting for one of the most anticipated contests of 2014 when Belfast’s Carl ‘The Jackal’ Frampton squares off against nemesis and IBF champion Kiko ‘La Sensación’ Martínez.

Cyclone Promotions’ CEO Barry McGuigan said of the forthcoming event, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the First Minister, Peter Robinson and the deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, for the assistance the Northern Ireland Executive is giving us in staging this global event. We are sincerely grateful for their vision and support in what we hope will be a historic night for Belfast.”

Former Featherweight World Champion McGuigan continued, “The TITANIC SHOWDOWN is going to be an unparalleled event, the like of which the boxing World and Northern Irish sport have never seen before. In the Titanic Centre and the historic Titanic Quarter, Cyclone Promotions have secured an incredible venue for what will be an incredible event. It is only fitting that we, with the assistance of the Northern Ireland Executive, have provided Carl Frampton with the best possible platform upon which to win the World title. Carl is a superstar in waiting and fully deserves this kind of stage to perform on.”

TITANIC SHOWDOWN will be a worldwide event that is schedueled to be beamed to over ninety countries across the globe. The purpose built arena, to be nicknamed ‘The Jackal’s Den’, will be situated dockside in the shadow of the Titanic Centre and will have a capacity of 16,000.

It has been designed to generate an enclosed atmosphere similar to that of Frampton’s usual haunt, the Odyssey Arena. The amazing ‘Jackal Army’ will be out in force on the 6th of September to support Frampton in his efforts to become a World champion and make the step to national sporting hero when he challenges former foe Kiko Martínez for the IBF World Super Bantamweight title.
