Locals triumph at Shorts
05 June 2008 – by Cormac Campbell
Saturday proved to be a successful night for Team Allio as all five local boxers in action recorded victories at Shorts Social Club, Belfast.
Topping the bill was 22-year-old heavyweight hope Scott Belshaw who shook off a shock defeat to Daniel Peret last time out with a KO4 victory over Edgar Kalnars.
Belshaws extra strength proved to be decisive as he punished Kalnars to the body before unleashing a chilling left hook in the fourth round, which ended proceedings.
Needless to say talk of a clash with Martin Rogan or Mike Perez will once again become vociferous.
On the undercard 20-year-old Luke Wilton further added to his growing reputation with a 39-38 victory over Kemal Plavci. Wiltons busier work securing victory against an aggressive opponent.
Of particular interest to the neutral on the evening was the appearance of Dublin prospect Paddy Hyland who punished and stopped Robin Deakin in five rounds.
Rounding off the card were Willie Thompson WPTS Janis Chernouskis and World Kickboxing Champion Gary Hamiltons KO1 victory over Andrew Ward.
