Lewis Crocker given another test on Ulster Hall show

Lewis Crocker [8(6)-0] saw his pro career stagnate somewhat in recent times but the Belfast welter is certainly making up for lost time.

The Sandy Row prospect was out for nine months with niggling injuries, seeing a BBBoC Celtic title fight with Martin Harkin fall through, and returned in May with a hard-fought six-round points win over notably tough Englishman Jumanne Camero at the Ulster Hall.

Crocker goes back to the Ulster Hall on Friday June 21st and will have another durable and game opponent as his team look to challenge and give him rounds.

It has been listed that ‘The Croc’ will box Frenchman Karim Alilche [10(2)-8(0)-2] on the next instalment of the #MTKFightNight series.

‘Le Lion de l’Atlas’ is a former French champion, beating Steven Bloyer back in 2017 before scoring an impressive split decision win over former WBA light welter champion Souleymane M’baye in his first defence. The 35-year-old lost his following defence but has yet to be stopped.

Aliliche’s participation in the bout later this month is dependant on him coming through a fight with Zeljko Kovacevic tonight unscathed.

The card in just under two weeks’ time is headlined by an all-Irish light welterweight clash between Darragh Foley and Tyrone McKenna and also features a clash between Steven Ward and former English champion Liam Conroy.

Alongside Crocker on the undercard is Owen O’Neill, Taylor McGoldrick, Caoimhin Agyarko, and a good fight between Paddy Gallagher and the unbeaten Liam Wells.
