Keeler makes middleweight statement with first round stoppage
IT was more Dead Hand than ‘Cool Hand’ Luke Keeler on the Return of The Mack card and blew Gary Boulden away in a round.
The Ballyfermot puncher made a statement of middleweight intent by stopping a fighter who tookĀ the likes of European Ā champion Billy Joe Saunders, Irish Champion Eamon O’Kane the distance .
‘Enjoy yourself’ was the advice from Keeler’s sizeable support, probably worried he would like last time out try to hard to impress. But Keeler seemed both relaxed and spiteful. He flicked the jab early on, but let the right hand go when the opportunity arose.
He seemed to hurt his foe twice in the early stages, butĀ when he landedĀ clean for theĀ third there wasĀ no questioning whether theĀ English fighter was hurt or not.
Boulden fell to the floor and looked like an Elvis impersonator as he rose to very unsteady feet.
The Celtic Warrior puncher knew there was no coming back for Boulden and was celebrating before the referee waved it off 2:17 in.
