Karl Kelly takes Belfast fight with top unbeaten prospect

Dubliner Karl Kelly [1(0)-0] will take a massive step up in just his second pro fight.

The Monkstown puncher will man the away corner on the first Irish card of the new year where he will take on a highly-rated English prospect.

Kelly has this morning been confirmed for the MHD Promotions ‘Assassin’s Creed’ dinner show at the Europa Hotel in Belfast on Saturday February 3rd.

Here ‘Little Sexy’ will take on unbeaten Portsmouth puncher Lucas Ballingall [8(3)-0].

Ballingall has impressed in recent times in sparring against Irish champion James Tennyson – who will headline the night.

It is a massive step up for Kelly, who debuted in October with an extremely entertaining win over game Polish fighter Damian Lawniczak.

Kelly’s team at JB Management & Promotions described how “this is a big test and step up for Karl who is hoping to follow in manager Jay [Byrne’s] footsteps by taking tough fight and begin learning on the job. It’s a typical boxer vs puncher fight this one and a win here could really explode into some big fights in 2018.”

The former semi-pro fighter joins Joe Fitzpatrick, Feargal McCrory, Ronnie Clark, Dan McShane, and Stevie Quinn Jr on the undercard in Belfast.

Ballingall v Kelly is the third very good match made for the show which also features Fitzpatrick v Scottish champion Marek Laskowski and McCrory v game Nicaraguan Rafael Castillo.
