Jamie Conlan: I want to pay the Dublin fans back

After roaring him back to his feet after his second knockdown in an epic clash with Junior Granados, Dublin fans are being repaid by Jamie Conlan who will headline MGM Promotions next card in the National Stadium.

The super flyweight contender was able to grind out a victory over his tough Mexican opponent with thanks to his superb conditioning, the support of the Dublin fans, and no little skill.

Belfast’s ‘Mexican’ will now return to the famous South Circular Road venue on November 7th for another night of boxing to be aired on Boxnation TV

Conlan told irish-boxing.com that “I knew after after the last performance I would have to return to Dublin.”

“The crowd deserve another night out. I said before Dublin was starved and it is good to play a part in bringing big nights back to the Stadium.

Northern fans needn’t despair either with Conlan revealing that “after this, I would like to go back to Belfast and fight there – things haven’t been overly active there of late either.”

“I love fighting in the Stadium and the Ulster Hall, they are great venues, but for now I go back to the Dublin and pay the fans back.”

Commending the fans for their role in his victory, Conlan recalled that “the atmosphere was something else.”

“I never experienced anything like that before.”

“It was pure electric it was hair on the back of the neck stuff.”

“Usually in the ring your not to aware of much outside of it but on that night I was.”

“It gave me something extra no doubt about it and it did help me when things were not going for me.”

However fans should not be hoping for another blood and guts war, as Conlan plans to be a lot more emphatic on his return, with the 28 year old noting that “hopefully we can generate the same atmosphere – although via the same style of fight!”
