Irish squad depart for European Men’s and Women’s Youth Championships
Ireland’s 18-strong squad are en route to Sofia this morning ahead of the start of the European Men’s and Women’s Youth Championships in the Bulgarian capital.
The draw for the tournament will be made tomorrow with boxing slated to begin Wednesday.
37 nations including Ireland are registered for the competition.
Ireland completed their final training camp in Dungarvan over the weekend and are ready to roll, according to Irish coach Billy McClean.
“The team had an extremely good training camp and they’re in top form. We’re just waiting on the draw now and the squad will be ready to go in Wednesday’s preliminaries,” he said.
The Irish panel for Sofia secured National U/18 titles at the National Stadium earlier this summer.
